Bonus Blog- Mama Bear

Today is my mom's (and incredible aunt's) birthday. My mom is probably the main reason I have managed to not kill myself yet. She is the one that reigns me in when I go to far and push threw things I ought not. I also hate to admit it but there is not a time I can currently think of where my mom didn't know best... every child's nightmare :).

I remember last year when I got hurt her first response was come home. She, for the millionth time, was ready and willing to take care of me. She also supported me the seven weeks following that I stayed out in Iowa instead of coming home to get fixed. But gave welcomed me with open arms when I stopped letting my pride keep me from getting off crutches. She is my perpetual cheer leader, but she doesn't have the name mama bear for nothing. She is the sweetest woman in the entire world but if you mess with one of her cubs you are dead meat. Something I respect so much mind you.

She walked with me in my first two races so that no one got near my hip, and she ran with me the first time I got to run after surgery up in Kansas. Yes everyone, you should be jealous so go right ahead.

She has supported everything I have done and been there every step of the way to pick me up and occasionally tell me to stop (fat chance). Most people don't realize how wonderful their parents are until they grow up, I however was blessed with the fortune of always knowing that my parents are the best parents in the world. She, along with dad, also is the one that foots the bill for what I am sure is tens of thousands of dollars of my medical bills. I could go on for weeks if given the chance to about why this woman is awesome but I think her actions speak louder, and more gracefully, then my words so if you are ever blessed enough to meet one of the most fantastic people on the earth (maybe a little bias) I am sure you will feel the warmth of God's love flow out of her just as it has on to me these last 21 years.

Happy Birthday Mom!
